On the basis of scanty records available ,Masit Khan ( originator of Masit Khani Baaj ) emerges as a direct descendant in the sixth generation from Mian Tansen. A unique feature of this tradition is, that it represents an uninterrupted line of sitar players playing sitar with only 17 frets ( Ustad Mushtak Ali khan being the seventh ).
